PMS Regatta 2025: Hungarian Sailors Dominate Croatia’s Unique Women’s Event

  • March 10, 2025

The 9th edition of PMS Žena, the only Croatian regatta exclusively reserved for women, has come to an end. The event, organized by Goran Pećarević – Peco with the help of friends and the people of Vis, once again brought together sailing enthusiasts from various countries.

The PMS 2025 Regatta took place on Friday and Saturday in Vis, with 14 crews competing and a total of 84 women sailors participating. On Friday, the organizers called off racing due to a lack of wind. For the first time in the regatta’s history, no wind filled the port of Vis, so the participants took the opportunity to rest, and some even went for a swim.

On Saturday, the wind finally picked up, and the organizers immediately switched to an elimination Match Race format. They chose this format as the only way to complete the entire program and successfully wrap up the regatta. The organizers drew the pairs on the waterfront, and the winner of each duel advanced to the next round.

In the end, two Hungarian crews emerged as the best. First place went to Team Penge, led by Annamaria Sabjan, while second place was taken by Team Lilly, skippered by Timea Berecz. Third place went to an international crew led by Valentina Venturi, and fourth place to the Serbian team Košava 1, with Tara Tošić at the helm.

PMS REGATTA 2025

As usual, the regatta’s headquarters was in Villa Kaliopa. Goran Pećarević – Peco had this to say about PMS 2025 Regatta:

“It was amazing, as it always is at this regatta! This year we had as many as 84 women sailors. All of us here on Vis are really proud that we’ve managed to create such an international gathering for Women’s Day – there’s nothing else like it in Europe. The girls from Ruđer Bošković sailed alongside the girls from Belgrade’s Faculty of Pharmacy. New connections were made, not just in sailing, and that’s really great.”

Next year will mark the jubilee 10th edition of PMS Žena. The organizers are planning to introduce some new features and enrich the regatta program to properly celebrate the anniversary.

PMS REGATTA 2025

“The regatta has now become so popular that it’s actually a challenge for us to handle all the organization. The great thing is that everyone on Vis helps out, each in their own way. And next year, we’re going to be properly prepared and put on a true spectacle for Women’s Day. As soon as we finalize our plans for the regatta, you’ll be the first to know,” concluded Goran Pećarević – Peco.
