All the work on the Marina Korkyra at Vela Luka was completed in the early autumn of 2019, so the marina will open soon. Well-constructed broad concrete piers are supported by a hundred and fifty pylons, including the longest pier with an interesting curved form, which, in addition to moorings, also serves as a breakwater. On the marina plateau on a small artificial island are two buildings housing a reception area, restrooms, store and restaurant. The piers are equipped with water and electricity connections and a system for pumping out black water tanks. There will be just under a hundred and fifty moorings for boats and yachts, and the marina will also be able to accommodate large yachts over thirty meters in length. When the second phase of construction is completed, after the relocation of the ferry port on the southern side of the marina, there will be an additional forty berths. With the completion of the marina, Vela Luka will be written in capital letters on the nautical map of the Adriatic and certainly attract a significantly larger number of seafarers sailing from the southern shores of the island of Hvar toward the waters off Korčula, Pelješac and Lastovo.
