Last year was a transition period for paying sojourn tax online
Last year the sailors could pay the sojourn tax either online or at the port authority office. The purchase can no longer be made at the office due to the digitalization of the business which will enable the port authorities to be more efficient and less crowded. It is particularly important now amidst the pandemic situation because it will reduce not only long queues but also the possibility of spreading the virus. The Croatian Tourist Board and the Ministry of the Sea have agreed that all the fees will be made via website nautika.evisitor.hr exclusively.
The same applies to the sailors/boat owners whose vessels are not for commercial purposes. The payment platform supports all major credit cards. After the transaction has been made, the sailor will receive the confirmation email. It is required to keep it during the entire stay on the boat. According to the Sojourn Tax Act, the will sailor pay tax based on the length of the vessel and, as of 2020, it is also possible to pay the tax based on the number of persons or number of overnights.
Croatian Tourist Board has provided promotional material in 9 languages offering instructions how to use the website. The instructions are available in English, German, Italian, Slovenian, Hungarian, Czech, Dutch, French and Polish. For charter business nothing has changed. Guests pay the sojourn tax to the company or a person with whom they have arranged the service.
